Еxterior Concrete Paint

July 21, 2015

When it comes to exterior painting, due to its specific properties, concrete can present a number of challenges. When looking for the best exterior concrete paint, you should consider a number of factors, including adhesion and long-term durability, especially when it comes to horizontal walking surfaces.
There are generally two different types of concrete paint - epoxy and polyurethane, even though there are a number of other not so popular options, such as acrylic, vinyl or or others. Urethanes are usually more suitable for thin film to high build coatings, as they possess excellent abrasion and wear-resistance, and moderate chemical resistance. Epoxy formulations are usually non-solvent, have excellent adhesion, good abrasion and chemical resistance, and are more widely used for concrete coatings, toppings, overlays and crack repair.

Both types of concrete paint have their benefits, but recently, combinations between epoxy and urethane have become the most popular option. This is so, because these hybrids offer excellent thermal and stress relief properties as well as impact resistance. These epoxy and polyurethane combinations, such as Green Polyurethane, for instance, are hundreds of times less toxic, possess superior adhesive properties, are more durable and provide around 30-60% in reduction of application costs.

The Green Polyurethane by Hybrid Coating Technologies is currently one of the most popular options and one of the most successful exterior concrete pain hybrids on the market. Offering superior properties, it provides up to 2 times better wear resistance and adhesion, it’s self-priming, so you can achieve the desired thickness in a single coat, and also comes with an increased chemical resistance and resistance to corrosion. Moreover, the Green Polyurethane hardens at ambient temperatures and comes with minimal order, which makes it far safer and healthier than the epoxy or polyurethane concrete paint options.
