Floor sealers are a must for concrete or even wooden floors in order to extend their lifespan. Of all the components of a building, floors take the most beating due to foot traffic, movement of furniture, fixtures and goods as well as vehicles. Bare concrete floors wouldn’t last long in a busy warehouse and wouldn’t be acceptable in modern hospitals. We know floor sealers will not only protect the floor from normal wear and tear, they keep floors smooth, give additional traction, improve the aesthetics and keep hazardous materials from seeping into the ground. It’s important however to use the proper type of floor sealant or the latter benefit of the material will not work but will contribute to the problem. Before using floor sealers, it’s important for building owners to read good reviews first.
There are several types of floor sealers by order of economy and durability. They are penetrating sealers for exterior applications to create a simple ground-based seal; acrylics for both interior and exterior applications for strong rudimentary protection of flooring as well as additional aesthetics through color and smoothing; polyurethanes, more durable and longer lasting than acrylics but prone to moisture before curing and lastly, epoxies, which are stronger than polyurethanes, best for mostly interior use because of susceptibility to UV radiation which could affect its color.
Poly250 by Arizona Polymer is a high-performance two-component polyurethane-based floor sealer. It’s been proven to last at least two years in high-traffic areas such as malls and casinos. Several other reviews have proven it to be durable enough for vehicular traffic in industrial settings as it was designed to last twice as long as other brands. Using Poly250 results in beautiful and glossy flooring. Application is generally easy with either brush or roller. What’s best is that it’s compatible for recoating on floors with other polyurethane floor sealer brands.
RadonSeal is one of the top floor sealers available in the market. It’s great at protecting concrete floors from seeping moisture. It’s the first line of defense in floor protection before applying finishing paints or epoxies. As the name suggests, it prevents the seeping of moisture and radon gas that makes concrete crumble. Application is easy and can be done via garden sprayer or paint roller. It’s also very economical as it can cover 1000sq. ft. of floor space with two 5 gallon containers. RadonSeal also contains less VOCs as per California state law yet remains very effective.
But to be truly protected and environmentally friendly at the same time, Hybrid Coating Technologies has a line of green polyurethane based coatings, sealers and hardeners. Its green polyurethane technology promises a non-toxic floor sealing solution that is twice as durable as conventional polyurethane based competitors. The non-toxic nature of Hybrid Coating Technologies floor sealers ensures safety to the applicators as well as to the would-be occupants of a treated building. Hybrid Coating’s offerings include FLI4W an incredible indoor solution, FLI4W-FC, FLI4W-LP and FLIW-B which have longer pot life respectively and FLIO6 series for indoor/outdoor use with high UV resistance. There are also a wide range of colors to choose from, which mixes great with most establishments.
